Down Rod Large Dark Pewter 460mm

For optimum air circulation, ceiling fans should be fitted 2.4m-2.8m above the floor. If the room in which the ceiling fan is installed is greater than this height, a Down Rod should be purchased. Please see the technical tab for more information.

This product is available in two different sizes (305mm and 460mm) and a variety of different colours to match your purchased ceiling fan. When choosing a ceiling fan it is important to remember that it is more relaxing and efficient to run a larger fan on a slower speed than a smaller fan on a higher speed. When a ceiling fan is to be installed in a conservatory, it is recommended that a fan size greater than 910mm/36" is used, as a fan of smaller size than this will not be sufficient enough to affect the heat build up. A ceiling fan with a down rod is also required in such installations, ruling out the installation of flush mounted fans.

For optimum air circulation, the ceiling fan should be fitted 2.4m-2.8m above the floor. The room size guide below shows the most appropriate fan size for this installation.

• 3.65m/12ft x 3.65m/12ft - Recommended fan size: 910mm/36" or 1070mm/42"
• 4.57m/15ft x 3.65m/12ft - Recommended fan size: 1070mm/42" or 1320mm/52"
• 6.10m/20ft x 4.27m/14ft - Recommended fan size: 1320mm/52"
• 7.62m/25ft x 3.65m/12ft - Recommended fan size: 2 x 1070mm/42" or 1 x 1320mm/52"

Rooms with higher ceiling drops should use a down rod to ensure optimum air circulation is maintained. The size guide below shows the most appropriate down rod for ceiling heights of 2.8m/9ft or greater.

• 305mm/12" for ceiling height of 2.8m/9ft
• 460mm/18" for ceiling height of 3.1m/10ft

Installation

Ceilings fans are installed in the same way as light fittings. The fan blades must be at least 200mm/8" from any obstruction such as roof beams and 2.3m/7ft 6" from the floor. They should not be installed in bathrooms.
